ABC 57

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports on Wednesday, June 26, around 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to a motorcycle crash around Fox Street and O'Keefe Road in LaGrange Township.

Authorities' investigation shows a motorcycle, ridden by 52-year-old Brian Herthoge of Cassoplis, was travelling south on O'Keefe Road north of Fox Street, when a deer entered the road causing Herthoge to crash into it.

He then lost control of the motorcycle as it continued south on its left side for about 500 yards.

The motorcycle came to a stop in the northbound lane.

Herthoge was not wearing a helmet and was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Authorities do not believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
