It's explained in the story that this new Mortal Kombat Universe is reborn, as in created by Fire God Liu Kang.
"Mortal Kombat 1" ushers in a new era of a new fighting system, games modes, and fatalities for the iconic franchise.
Iconic, original returning characters in this game include, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Jax, Kitana, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and many more.
If you buy the premium edition, you can play as additional characters, including Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker.
Take caution that "Mortal Kombat 1", along with the whole franchise, is rated M for mature 17+ for intense violence, blood and gore, strong language.
