Mishawaka reports 95 percent of Mishawaka Utility customers have power restored

ABC 57

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The City of Mishawaka reports power has been restored to about 95 percent of the over 10,000 Mishawaka Utility consumers as of Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say Mishawaka Utility linemen have been working since Tuesday morning alongside five crews from Hoosier Edison through a mutual aid agreement with the Indiana Municipal Electric Association.

City officials say while progress has been made, they are still in the process of rebuilding power infrastructure in some areas.

In locations where damage is extensive, officials say crews must replace damaged poles, lines, and sometimes transformers before power can be restored.

Crews are continuing to work with tree-removal companies in areas where fallen trees are obstructing power lines.

City officials said, "This storm was unprecedented, and while we cannot yet provide a definitive timeline for full restoration, please know that every available resource is being mobilized to address the remaining issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue our efforts to restore power to all affected areas. We will provide further updates as progress is made. Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time."
