UPDATE: One person is dead after being struck by a train Friday afternoon.
"A 46-year-old male from Elkhart was struck and killed by a train," the Mishawaka Police Department said. "This occurred near the crossing of the Norfolk Southern Railroad and South Main Street. For whatever reason, the male did not see the train approaching."
ORIGINAL: The Mishawaka Police Department reports officers responded to a train crash involving a pedestrian on S. Main Street after a call came in around 1:23 p.m., Friday.
Police say in addition to the crossing on S. Main Street, the crossings on S. Spring Street and S. Laurel Street will also be closed.
There's currently no information about the pedestrian's condition or injuries.
