Mishawaka police investigating deadly shooting on Indiana Avenue

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department responded to a shooting near the 200 block of Indiana Avenue to reports of a gunshot victim.

This incident took place around 8:45 p.m. not too far away from the girls' basketball game was underway at Mishawaka High School.

Early reports suggested that a baby had been shot but once officers arrived on scene, they quickly learned that was not the case.

Instead, they found a man inside the home who was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time authorities are not releasing the victim's identity.

Authorities are currently investigating what led up to the shooting.

Police say this remains an active investigation, and from their findings, it appears to be an isolated incident.
