MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The coronavirus pandemic has forced high schools across the state to cancel proms and graduations. The PTSA at Mishawaka High School wanted to do something special for the 320 seniors who won't get a ceremony.
Members of the PTSA drove to every senior's home and put a sign in their yard. The signs read, "Congratulations Seniors, Class of 2020. We are so proud of you!"
The surprise meant a lot to seniors like Alicia Katzelis.
“Seeing everyone come out and make a little bit of an extra effort to just make all the seniors feel special when I think that they know that it’s been a little bit of a hard time for us. I think that just means a lot to everyone and I think it's going to make a long, lasting impact on a lot of senior years," Katzelis said.
School officials also took the time to remember the three high school seniors who passed away during the school year.
