Mishawaka breaking ground for new fire station

MISHAWAKA, Ind.-- Despite not having direct financial approval from the common council, the city of Mishawaka is scheduled to break ground on a new fire station Monday morning.

The new #4 will be built on Harrison Road, just west of Hums Elementary School. The existing fire station is on Lincolnway East, but officials say it's not up to date and the city needs something new.

The building will be nearly 14,000 square feet with three bays for either fire trucks or EMS vehicles.

The mayor and fire chief will lead the ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday.
