BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- After less than two months, Michigan Works! reopened their Benton Harbor location after undergoing essential mold remediation efforts to ensure they continue to educate and create job opportunities for jobseekers in the community.

The facility reopened Thursday after a minor setback, and resumed normal operations to continue serving Cass, Berrien, and Van Buren Counties.

Paul Kirk, Vice President of the Workforce at Michigan Works!, shared their excitement to connect all individuals of all ages to education and training needed to meet the needs of employers after pivoting the last few weeks.

“Out of an abundance of caution our team at the Benton Harbor Service Center pivoted operations to the 315 E. Main Street building and serving individuals remotely over the last few weeks,” said Kirk “We’re excited to get back in our space and resume our normal operations at the 499 building in Benton Harbor.”

This is a safe place where they connect jobseekers with job, career, and training opportunities they may need to grow and succeed.

Educational programs are available at Bridge Academy of Southwest Michigan located in the same building as Michigan Works! If you're looking to earn your GED or earn a certificate in a high demand field, they are there to help you switch or find a career.

Michigan Works! serves about 30,000 jobseekers a year and jobseeker A’breja Johnson encourages the community to take advantage of these opportunities because they have impacted her life in so many ways.

“This is probably my third time visiting. I've come here for my GED, employment services, and programs through DHS.” said Johnson “It’s easy, fast, and suitable to get help that’s needed, and as far as education and employment, it’s like the number one service in my county.”

Don’t wait to take advantage of these opportunities, stop by their Benton Harbor facility at 499 West Main Street to start your next career or educational journey with Michigan Works!
