Michigan State Police investigating Wednesday morning shooting, unlawful imprisonment

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police is investigating a shooting and unlawful imprisonment that took place on Wednesday morning in the 62000 block of 63rd Street in Hartford Township.

At 5:30 a.m., the suspect allegedly held two people he knew against their will inside a non-motorized RV.

Both victims told police that multiple shots were fired inside the RV.

Evidence at the scene supports the claims, reports said. Police said the suspect was armed with a handgun.

One of the shots grazed one of the victims, a 58-year-old Hartford man, in the head. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The second victim, a 44-year-old Hartford man, was not injured.

The suspect was positively identified as a 41-year-old man who was recently released from prison, police said. He was located and arrested without incident.

The suspect was taken to the Van Buren County Jail on multiple charges, including various firearms violations and unlawful imprisonment.
