SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Roads are slick and drivers are taking precaution throughout Michiana due to snow storm conditions.
"The snow-fall is starting to cause issues out on the roadways so we are seeing snow building up on the roads. Conditions are worsening as time goes on so rods are slick right now especially between plow runs. Our plows take 2-3 hours to complete a route so if you’re encountering an area they haven’t been in a while it’s obviously going to be a little bit more slippery so we want people to really slow down and be cautious if they’re going to be out on the roadways tonight," said Cassandra Bajek of INDOT.
INDOT officials suspect that the conditions will last until the early morning hours on the road.
They also suggest that those who aren’t driving, but walking sidewalks and staircases, also take precautions.
Even the local homeowners and businesses.
"Putting out salt, shoveling, things like that so especially tomorrow morning we would recommend that people are really taking care of that because that is definitely a hazard for people who are going to be walking after we’ve gotten this much snow. So, we just really encourage homeowners and business owners to take appropriate care of those areas," said Bajek.
