Cloudy, breezy Wednesday morning; improvements this afternoon
Despite the welcomed weekend rain temporarily pressing pause for area farmers, the harvest is off to a good start across Michiana.
In Indiana, the corn harvest is in-line with the five-year average as the state sees a 10% increase in harvested corn compared to last year.
The soybean harvest in Michigan is off to a similarly strong start, with the 2020 harvest near the five-year average and well ahead of 2019.
Winter wheat planted is now at 40 percent in Michigan as well, ahead of both last year's progression and the five-year average.
With dry weather in the forecast for the next week, farmers should make significant additional progress on the harvest heading into the middle of this month.
