Michiana communities hold solemn 9/11 ceremonies

SOUTH BEND, Ind - Communities across Michiana held 9/11 ceremonies today, paying tribute to first responders who risked their lives and those who lost their lives when terrorists attacked 22 years ago.

First responders from various departments took part in the ceremonies, as well as local officials and politicians.

United States Representative Rudy Yakym, who represents Indiana's 2nd District, spoke during a ceremony at St. Patrick's County Park.

He said it was important to keep the memory of 9/11 alive. He also talked about supporting our first responders.

“We need to make sure, even at a local level here in Indiana, that we support our first responders., said Yakym. "These are people who wake up every day not knowing if they’re going to come home, and they need to know that the community has their back.”
