ORIGINAL STORY: NEW CARLISLE, Ind. -- A newsletter from St. Joseph County Councilmember Dan Schaetzle reveals a Meta spokesperson was at Tuesday's committee meeting.

Meta is the company that's been pushing for the rezoning of 1,000 acres north of New Carlisle for the building of a $12 billion dollar data center complex.

Schaetzle said the Meta representative made a few comments which were interpreted as wanting more time to "win over" the community of New Carlisle.

The committee voted 4-1 to give them more time.

Schaetzle said in October, the Land Use Planning Committee will hear what Meta representatives have to say, discuss the situation, and then vote to send the measure to the November council meeting with an unfavorable or favorable recommendation.
