SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Michigan Department of Transportation has released a list of Small Urban Projects set to receive funding through the Small Urban Program.

The Small Urban Program provides federal Surface Transportation Program funding to areas with a population of 5,000 to 49,999, per the MDOT website.

Projects eligible for the program include road and transit capital projects located on the federal-aid highway system and within the federal urban area boundary.

MDOT states projects must also be consistent with regional land use and development plans.

2026 MDOT Small Urban Projects:

BERRIEN COUNTY:

Oronoko-Berrien Springs: M-139 to Snyder Road

• Project will include a two-inch mill and fill with drainage structure upgrade
• Federal estimated amount $385,000

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY:

Sturgis: US-12 to W Lafayette (north leg)

• Mill and resurface at 1-1/2" depth and install pavement markings
