Manion Cabin available for spring and summer rentals

The historic Manion Cabin at St. Patrick’s County Park in South Bend is available for overnight weekend rentals. The log cabin sleeps 8 people and has a large hearth on the lower level and a fireplace in an upper bedroom. There is a full kitchen, and an adjacent open-air pavilion that accommodates up to 35 guests. The rental fee is $350 for the two-night stay (3pm, Friday through 3pm, Sunday). For an additional $85 per day, the Manion cabin can be rented on the Thursday proceeding or the Monday following a weekend rental. The cabin can be rented March through the weekend before Christmas.

Manion Cabin is located in the secluded southern end of St. Patrick’s County Park, near several hiking trails, both wooded and open field. The cabin was constructed in the early 1900s on a wooded ridge overlooking the floodplain on the St. Joseph River. Today the floodplain is managed as a natural area by the parks department attracting nesting bluebirds and osprey. Springtime rentals offer an opportunity to bird watch and enjoy the spring wildflowers that flourish in the southern end of St. Patrick’s County Park. Summer renters can partake of canoe rentals offered on the St. Joseph River.

Manion Cabin is often utilized for small group gatherings, family reunions, intimate weddings, and weekend get-a-ways.

St. Patrick’s County Park is located on the St. Joseph River on the Indiana/Michigan line. St. Patrick’s lies just off of Auten Road between Portage Avenue and Business 933. For reservation information, phone 574-277-4828. Rental fees include 7% sales tax.
