Man under arrest for allegedly bringing a gun to a high school event
La Porte County Jail LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A man allegedly openly carrying a handgun at a high school event was arrested Saturday, April 25.
The man, 41-year-old Joshua A. O'Dor of Kingsford Heights, was arrested for Possession of a Firearm on School Property, a Level 6 Felony.
During South Central High School's "Prom Grand March", an event in the school's gymnasium open to the public, a parent allegedly observed a man openly carrying a handgun on his hip.
The parent reported the man to a detective with the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, who found the man and took away his firearm, a .40 caliber Glock 23 Gen 4, before identifying him as O'Dor and removing him from the gymnasium.
O'Dor was taken into custody and charged at the La Porte County Jail. That same evening, he posted a cash bond and was released.
