Man trespassing on railroad tracks arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement with Deadly Weapon

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reports deputies responded to a reported suspicious person walking on the railroad tracks in the area of US 6 and Beech Road around 1 p.m. on Sept. 25.
Upon arrival, a K9 deputy made contact with the person, later identified as 35-year-old Samuel Lian of Indianapolis, walking on the railroad tracks.
Authorities say Lian was asked to stop trespassing on the railroad property several times.
The report states Lian refused to comply with requests and commands for approximately 30 minutes.
When deputies approached Lian, authorities say he began to resist and batter law enforcement with a deadly weapon.
Utilizing the K9 patrol vehicle’s remote door opener, K9 Diesel was deployed to apprehend Lian.
Deputies say Lian continued resisting arrest while being apprehended by Diesel but was ultimately taken into custody without further incident.
While in custody, deputies say Lian provided a false identity statement.
Medics arrived on scene and took Lian to Bremen Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
After, Lian was taken to the Marshall County Jail.
Lian is charged with Battery Committed with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 5 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 5 Felony, Battery Against a Public Safety Official, a Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement with Two Prior Convictions, a Level 6 Felony, False Identity Statement, a Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Trespass on Railroad, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Refusal to Identify, a Class C Misdemeanor.
Lian was issued a $50,000 bond.
