Man killed in shooting at Briarwood Apartments

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Briarwood Apartments.

Benton Township Police were called to 1869 Union around 4 a.m. for reports of two men arguing in the parking lot and shots fired.

Witnesses told police they heard one of the men stating he had been shot and saw vehicles fleeing the scene.

Police were notified the gunshot victim was at Spectrum Health Lakeland emergency department.

When officers arrived, they were notified the victim had been pronounced deceased.

The 27-year-old male had two gunshot wounds to the chest, police said.
