Man arrested after allegedly fleeing deputies in a row boat

LA GRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- A man was arrested after he allegedly stole a row boat and used it to flee from deputies, according to the La Grange County Sheriff's Office.

Monday morning, deputies responded to the 5000 block of S. 550 E for reports of a man acting disorderly and appearing to be on drugs.

As deputies arrived, the suspect stole a row boat and began rowing out across Adams Lake, according to deputies.

Deputies set up a perimeter on the south side of the lake and took the suspect into custody as the boat landed on shore.

The suspect, Kenneth Bolen, was taken into custody on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and theft.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the LaGrange Police Department, Indiana State Police and DNR.
