Man accused of injuring 81-year-old woman also a convicted sex offender

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Randy Scott, a man accused of attacking an 81-year-old woman with a broken lamp in her home, is also registered as a sex offender in both St. Joseph County and in the state of Alabama, according to court documents.

In 1997, Scott was convicted for molesting a seven-year-old girl in Hendricks County, Indiana, according to case documents. In 2003, he was convicted of sexual abuse against two girls, ages seven and 12, reports said.

He was released from prison in August 2022 for his charges in Alabama.

The 68-year-old is currently charged with aggravated battery and possession of methamphetamine for his role in the death of the woman.
