Man accused of attacking his father with a chainsaw
SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. -- A 33-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly attacking his father with a chainsaw, according to the La Grange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the 11000 block of W SR 120 in Shipshewana on Thursday around 7:45 p.m.
When they arrived, they located Joseph Martin in the driveway holding a chainsaw, reports said.
Officers from multiple agencies responded to the scene and took the chainsaw from Martin without incident, reports said.
Martin's father told police Martin attacked him with a chainsaw that was not running, but said he didn't know why he was attacked, reports said.
Martin was taken to the hospital to be treated for a cut on his leg.
Martin's father was taken to the hospital with numerous cuts to his head, face and hands.
Martin was booked into the La Grange County Jail after being discharged from the hospital. He is facing preliminary charges of domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury and aggravated battery
