Majestic Care of Goshen holds charity garage sale, with proceeds going to 'The Window'
GOSHEN, Ind. -- On Friday, Majestic Care of Goshen, in Goshen, held a garage sale with all proceeds going to 'The Window'.
Majestic Care of Goshen is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility that is VA contracted, meaning it serves veterans and their families with specialized care.
Due to a personal connection with ‘The Window,’ Majestic Care's Director of Marketing and Admissions, Laura Long, decided to step in by hosting a garage sale, where all the proceeds would go to the cash-strapped non-profit.
The garage sale idea came up after an announcement that the Goshen nonprofit made on Monday, June 29, that all services at 'The Window' would be temporarily suspended until July 27.
The Window's Interim Executive Director, Joshua Varab, says the decision to pause operations came after a meeting with the board and leadership team.
"In order to stay open for years to come, we did have to make the difficult decision to pause, to make sure we could reassess, put proper fundraising strategies in place to be able to stay open..." Varab said.
Although operations at The Window have been temporarily suspended, other local organizations like the Salvation Army of Goshen have stepped up to try and help fill the gap.
