Main Street bridge in Mishawaka prepares for closures that will last into October

ABC 57

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Main Street Bridge over the Indiana Toll Road in Mishawaka is getting a two-phase face-life starting this spring that will require the closing of northbound lanes into July.

City officials say the company contracted to do the work has released a schedule that includes Phase I of construction, which will require the closing of the northbound lanes of Main Street over the Toll Road, will begin Monday, April 14 and extend into July.

In July, Phase II will then begin.  Phase II is expected to last into mid to late October of this year.

"Advance information sign[s] have been installed along with message boards to notify the public of the upcoming changes," a city spokesperson said. "The Detour Route is also posted and will utilize Grape Road for north / south travel, accessing Grape Road by either University Drive or Douglas Road."

Traffic pattern updates will be passed along to the public as they become available.
