Local nonprofit offers new program, 'The Dad Playbook,' for young fathers

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Local nonprofit, Present Pillars, announced it will offer a new program called "The Dad Playbook," which aims to empower young fathers.
Officials say the 12-week program is now accepting registrations from currents, expecting, and aspiring dads, specifically men between the ages of 16 and 24.
The deadline to register is Wednesday, April 23. You can register online.
The program is limited to 12 participants, so those interested are encouraged to sign up quickly.
The program begins April 28, and organizers say it will offer essential parenting skills, explore emotional and physical wellness, and growth within a community of like-minded peers.
Executive Director James Gunter shares, “Fatherhood is the most important job a man can do. It is imperative that young men prioritize their mental, physical and financial health- not as an act of selfishness, but as an act of love. My team and I are excited to serve our community and its families.”
Participants will explore topics like health, communication, discipline, relationships, and long-term planning, all while gaining new tools to strengthen their roles as fathers, organizers said.
The program runs through July 14, and organizers say it requires a minimum of 10 out of 12 sessions for successful completion.
Present Pillars is located at 204 W. Main St. in Benton Harbor.
