MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A 33-year-old Holland, Michigan man is facing multiple charges after leading multiple police departments on a multi-county chase in a stolen truck Thursday afternoon before crashing in Marshall County.

The Indiana State Police reports a trooper with the Peru, Indiana Post was patrolling Miami County when a dispatch came in about a stolen black 2015 Dodge pickup truck. The trooper located a truck matching the description around 1:45 p.m.

The trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, at which point the driver, later identified as Shane Morton, failed to stop and fled east on US 24. Police say Morton then drove north on US 31 through Fulton and Marshall Counties.

During the pursuit, Morton drove through the median to avoid stop sticks.

Police say Morton then drove north in the southbound lanes of US 31 before crossing back into the northbound lanes and heading west on US 30 toward Plymouth.

Authorities say the chase continued south on S.R. 17 where the truck struck a set of stop sticks, deflating one of the tires. Morton continued driving on the wheel's rim.

At about 2:34 p.m., Morton left the road before crashing into trees near 12th Road and Sage Trail. Morton was arrested and taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Morton was then taken to Miami County Jail.

Morton is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Theft, and Reckless Driving.
