CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Two teams took the court at Southwest Michigan's 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse Gym on Thursday night in Dowagiac, but only one walked off as champions.

In a battle between the Brookside Bobcats and the Cass County Sheriff's All Stars, to benefit local food pantries, it was the Bobcats who continued their dominant win streak over the All Stars with a 65-53 victory.

"The Cass County Sheriff's All Stars fought hard, but unfortunately, they couldn't break the Bobcats' undefeated streak," the Cass County Sheriff's Office said. "Despite some incredible effort and determination on the court, the Bobcats once again came out on top, maintaining their flawless record against the All Stars."

While failing to top the Bobcats year after year, the All Stars' determination and sportsmanship never waivers.

"It's been a tough rivalry, but the All Stars continue to show heart and grit with each game," the CCSO said.  "As do the Bobcats!"

County officials say, prior to 2020, the Bobcats and the Sheriff's All Stars played annually for many years.

The event was put on by the Cass County Council on Aging, with the cost of entry being a can of non-perishable food to be donated to local food pantries.

The Bobcats represented Cass County at the Michigan Special Olympics State Basketball Finals on March 22 where the first team won silver, and the second team brought home the bronze in their respective leagues.
