Local Jewish community respond to shooting in Australia
Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valey SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley responded via social media, on Dec. 14, to the shooting in Australia.
"Jewish Federations of North America are horrified by the antisemitic terrorist shooting in Australia. This was a deliberate terrorist act targeting the Jewish community in Sydney as they celebrated the first night of Chanukah and must be loudly and clearly called out as antisemitism.
The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley expresses our condolences to Rabbi Schneur & Sari Gansburg of Chabad of Greater South Bend, whose colleague Rabbi Eli Schlanger z"l was among the eleven murdered in Sydney. May the memories of those who perished be for a blessing. We also keep close to hearts Rabbi Shoshana Kaminsky of Temple Beth-El and Rabbi Karen Companez, who both have roots and familial ties to Australia's Jewish community." stated the Jewish Federations of North America.
