Local church offers free counseling to those affected by shootings

GRANGER, Ind.-- A manhunt ended Tuesday night when the Walmart arson suspect turned the gun on himself in a resident’s backyard.

Just 24 hours later a man walked into a Martin's grocery store and killed two women inside.

With all the violence that's erupted this week in Michiana, one pastor is offering free counseling to the community.

The Elkhart Pastor for Granger Community Church will be addressing this week's shootings at his Sunday services.

GCC is also offering free counseling for anyone who calls and schedules an appointment.

This weekend the church hopes the community will be able to find peace through worship and discussion.

Gene Troyer said, “Here we have a 22 year old taking two other peoples lives and then we have a 31 year old that is taking his own life. Then we begin to wonder, what is happening? To be focused on that and to believe the worst of our neighbors, and those in our community would be a big mistake.”
