South Bend,Ind. -- As we learn more about that horrific midair collision one retired aviation expert with decades of experience in Southwest Michigan.
Lee Scherwitz served as aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, where he was trained as an air accident investigator, before going back to school to study aviation business management and went on to become an airport manager in Alpena, and Benton Harbor.
He talked to ABC57 Thursday after hearing the tragic news.
