Light-hearted fun with Valentine's Day fundraiser for Humane Society of St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - You can show your love and support for animals in need this Valentine's Day when you donate $10 to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County and in return, have your ex's name written on a red flag and placed in kitty litter boxes or dog areas at their shelter.

From now until Valentine's Day, you can donate here and have your ex's name put on a red flag or you can have your name written on a red heart and placed on an animal's kennel, so they know you're sending them love.

Organizers say this is a light-hearted fun way to wish a not-so-special someone in your life a poopy Valentine's Day.

Pictures of red flags and hearts will be taken and shared on their social media pages by 5 p.m. on February 14.

Anybody whose forms are submitted after 12 p.m. on Valentine's Day may not see their flags/hearts picture until the following few days.

Organizers say all donations stay local and will help provide necessary veterinary and general care for the nearly 3,000 animals they see annually.
