SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend extension of 'Ladder Up' is working to provide free tax assistance services to low-income residents.
The program, run by students and professors from the University of Notre Dame, offers a free e-file for single-income residents who make $35,000 a year or less and families (head of household) who make $70,000 or less each year.
'Ladder Up' is held at a variety of locations, including the St. Joe County Public Library, The Stayer Center at the University of Notre Dame, the Charles Black Community Center, Saint Mary's College and La Casa de Amistad.
The program will host community events up until April 11th. Organizers say it typically takes about one hour for a standard filing from start to finish.
