UPDATE: Richard Nagy has been identified as a Michigan City Firefighter. Nagy was known to serve with honor and dedication since 2022. 

ORIGINAL STORY: LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Officers were dispatched to the 5700 west block of Schultz Road for a single vehicle crash.

The call came in at approximately 10:19 p.m.

A black 2023 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling eastbound on Schultz Road.

The vehicle veered off the south side of the roadway, struck two trees, a guy wire attached to a utility pole, and a wooden fence before stopping in a cornfield.

The vehicle eventually became engulfed in flames.

The driver, the lone occupant, was identified as 32-year-old Richard Nagy of La Porte.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
