Kosciusko traffic stop results in arrest and confiscation of $65k, cocaine, and guns
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A traffic stop Monday in Kosciusko County resulted in Indiana State Police Troopers finding a large amount of cash and obtaining a search warrant for a residence in Warsaw.
Authorities say the stop was initiated at roughly 4:34 p.m. on Feb. 3 on a white 2017 Dodge Ram for moving violations as it going north on S.R. 15 near C.R. 1350 North in Kosciusko County.
"During the course of the traffic stop it was discovered that the driver of the Dodge, 35-year-old Luis Lara-Macias, of Warsaw, was in possession of a large amount of United States Currency," ISP said. "The amount of the currency was later determined to be more than $65,000."
Through a continued investigation, authorities ultimately served a search warrant at Lara-Macias’ residence in the 1700 block of East 300 North just after midnight.
"As a result of this search warrant, troopers located a rifle, two handguns, approximately three ounces of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, fraudulent identification cards, an additional $3,600 USC, as well as other paraphernalia associated with drug dealing," ISP said.
Lara-Macias was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of Money Laundering, a Level 4 Felony.
