MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- On Saturday, November 22, Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love attended a comic book signing at Dick's Sporting Goods in Mishawaka.
The comic book, "Jeremonstar", was in development for the past five years after an idea from Jeremiyah's father to tell Jeremiyah's story growing up in a universe where superheroes are athletes since he grew up loving comics and anime.
Jeremiyah's father worked alongside a creative team of writers and illustrators to get the details right, as well as pitching everything with Jeremiyah to make everything in his voice.
There were about 200 comic books, and a little over 200 of Jeremiyah fans came out to meet him. Those who didn't get a book were still able to take some photos with him, and those who weren't able to show up at Dick's today can still buy Jeremonstar online at jeremonstarcomics.com.
Love stated, "The character is me growing up, and it's telling the story of my upbringing and some challenges that I face, you know, coming up, challenges with just other people looking over me, you know, me not having the confidence that I needed to come out here and play football the way that I wanted to, but my whole character is meant to inspire kids and just people in general, to, you know, stick the course, stay you and have fun with it at the same time. And we're just telling a unique way. What better way to do that with superpowers?"
"I mean, it means a lot. Like I said, like, I love everybody that supports, you know, me and the Notre Dame football team, and just seeing everybody here that came out of support. You know, it really just fills my heart with joy, because I want to share a piece of my life with everybody that's here, or just all of the fans in general. Because feel like, you know, people see me as Jeremiah, love the football player, but I'm a little bit there's a little bit more to me, and hopefully this will give you a glimpse into my life."
