Jaylin Tucker sentenced in death of Kelvin Stanford

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A judge has sentenced Jaylin Tucker, 19, in connection with the death of Kelvin Stanford Jr and injuries to another juvenile in May 2020.

Tucker had been charged with murder and attempted murder, but his trial ended in a hung jury.

Tucker then admitted to killing Stanford under sudden heat and pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and attempted battery with a deadly weapon in May 2022.

The judge sentenced Tucker to 15 years on the voluntary manslaughter charge and 5 years for the attempted battery with a deadly weapon. The sentences will run concurrently.
