NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Notre Dame football team has been battling injuries all season, but running back Jafar Armstrong will be back in the lineup this week for the game against the USC Trojans, which could be a real boost to the offense.
"Explosiveness and the ability to obviously route run and catch the football. Very smart and a highly competitive individual," Coach Kelly said.
Jafar's numbers aren't huge but they're deceiving.
In just one game, he has two rushes for 10 yards and one catch for 16 yards.
All three of those plays came consecutively in the first possession of the first game of the season when the Irish played Louisville.
Coach Kelly is happy to have Armstrong back but doesn't want to put too much pressure on him.
"He just hasn't played very much and I don't know that we can expect him to throw on a cape and play like Superman this weekend. There's going to be a process of coming back," Coach Kelly said.
Armstrong provides another complementary piece to Tony Jones Junior in the run game.
