IUSB and School City of Mishawaka streamline admission process for interested students
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- At an event Wednesday, Indiana University South Bend and the School City of Mishawaka signed an agreement to streamline the admission process for high school students thinking about going to college.
School officials say the application is a short online form as opposed to the traditional application.
"Well, I think it's huge, because IUSB is in our backyard, right? I mean, kids can live at home and attend IUSB. They don't have to worry about lodging or any of those things or staying in a residence hall. So, I think just the convenience of having IUSB as our neighbor," said Principal of Mishawaka High School Chad Brugh.
The new agreement will go into effect in the fall.
Andy Williams, Interim Deputy Chancellor of IUSB, said, "This is really kind of an automatic way for students to apply. They opt in at the beginning of their high school career, or the or later in their senior year to say that, ultimately, that they are willing to share their transfer transcript with IU South Bend, and then they can skip the traditional application process."
