Irish fans get ready for Sunday's match up

AUSTIN, Texas -

Notre Dame fans are in Austin getting ready for the big game against the Texas Longhorns.

They are gathering together for a weekend of events hosted by the ND Club of Austin, all to celebrate this historic match up.

Blue, green and gold are invading Longhorn Land.

"Seeing Texas play Notre Dame, two of the best schools in history,” says ND fan Joe Celas.

The ND Club of Austin is hosting a weekend of events to bring Irish fans and Texan traditions together for a pep rally at The Mexican Cultural Center.

"It's really about a convergence of cultures of people coming together with one goal in mind, to celebrate a great game and celebrate two great institutions coming together to compete," says Andrew Barlow, ND Club of Austin.

Austin style with Irish flare, and it's a matchup that fans of both teams are pumped to see.

Paul Cruz, a Texas fan says, "Folks are here from Austin and from Texas to celebrate tomorrow's game. It really is about a friendship. A fun partnership, a fun friendship."

But that doesn't mean there's no smack talk.

"I’ve taken a little bit of heat. Just a little bit," says Celas.

"I think Texas will put up a better fight but Notre Dame's offensive line is so good,” says fan, Dave Macinell.

But it's all in good fun. Irish fans are confident the game will go their way.
