INDOT opens applications for Community Crossings Matching Grant projects

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation announced it is now accepting applications for the spring 2025 call for projects for the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program.

Officials say the application window is open now through Jan. 31, at 5 p.m.

The grants are available to all cities, towns, and counties across Indiana.

The following list includes how the grants would be awarded based on population:

  • Cities and towns with a population of fewer than 10,000 will receive funds using a 75/25 match.
  • Cities and towns with a population of greater than 10,000 will receive funds using a 50/50 match.
  • Counties with a population of fewer than 50,000 will receive funds using a 75/25 match.
  • Counties with a population of greater than 50,000 will receive funds using a 50/50 match.

  • St. Joseph County: 272,848
  • Elkhart County: 206,409
  • La Porte County: 111,706
  • Kosciusko County: 80,364
  • LaGrange County: 40,907
  • Starke County: 23,206
  • Fulton County: 20,358
  • Pulaski County: 12,385
  • Marshall County: 8,810

INDOT officials say since 2016, the state has awarded over $1.83 billion in matching funds to support road and bridge projects across Indiana.

The applications can be submitted online and communities receiving awards will be notified in the spring.
