INDOT hosting public hearing in La Porte over intersection improvement Monday, Nov. 17
INDOT LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will host a public hearing Monday, Nov. 17 to discuss a proposed intersection improvement project at S.R. 2 and C.R. 500 W near La Porte.
INDOT is looking into improving this intersection due to the high frequency of crashes there. A study ranging from 2017 to 2019 saw 22 crashes at the intersection of S.R. 2 and C.R. 500 W.
INDOT is considering alternatives like constructing a single-lane roundabout with a truck apron to improve the safety and efficiency of the intersection.
The hearing will be held at the La Porte County Public Library Exchange at 807 Indiana Avenue in La Porte. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to give the public a chance to view displays and speak with the project team. You may also review project documents on the INDOT website.
A presentation will be given at 6 p.m. before a public comment session.
Alternatively, you may watch a livestream of this hearing by registering online. Official public comments can still be given, but they must be in written electronic form. A recording will be posted on the INDOT project's webpage and INDOT's YouTube page.
All public comments during, and up to two weeks after, the hearing will be evaluated and addressed in future documentation.
Written comments prior to and after the public hearing should be sent to Mr. Dmitri Adams, Project Manager, Lawson-Fisher Associates (LFA); 525 West Washington Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46601 or [email protected]. Comments can also be submitted to Mr. Joshua Netherton, Metric Environmental; 6958 Hillsdale Court, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250 or [email protected].
