Indiana State Police investigating deadly crash in LaGrange County

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind -- One person is dead following a crash with a semi-trailer on the 1-80/90 Toll Road.

Indiana State Police reports the driver of a 2021 Nissan was driving slowly near the 108-mile marker.

A 2019 Volvo semi-tractor/trailer then crashed into the back of the Nissan around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses say the Nissan went into the eastbound lanes and caught fire.

The driver was not able to escape the burning vehicle and died inside of the car. Their identification hasn't been determined so far.

The semi-driver was a 44-year-old man from Pennsylvania. He was taken to the hospital, and ISP says he is cooperating with investigators.

Indiana State Police is awaiting a toxicology test for the semi-driver.
