GOSHEN, Ind. -- Police are now identifying the man who allegedly shot at an Indiana State Trooper as the same who allegedly shot into a Goshen 7-Eleven.

According to the Goshen Police Department, 22-year-old Jonathan Ybarra of Warsaw was the one who pulled up to the convenience store and fired shots at the building on September 18. No one was hurt in this incident.

Following this, investigators say they used license plate reader information to locate the suspected vehicle in La Porte County. 

According to Indiana State Police, a trooper was flagged down by someone reporting two suspicious people walking on C.R. 125 E, south of C.R. 900 N. Investigators say the trooper found the pair, a man and a woman, and spoke with them. Officials say that when the trooper asked them for identification, Ybarra allegedly pulled out a gun and fired. The trooper was not injured; his patrol car was hit two times.

The two ran into a wooded area. The woman suspect later surrendered. Ybarra was found a few hours later in a home at 8325 N. 125 E. Investigators say he was dead, with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Goshen police say they are working with ISP on this investigation.
