INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Troy Allen Koen, 54, of Brownsburg, Indiana, pleaded guilty Friday to assaulting law enforcement officers during the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol Breach.

Koen admitted to aggressively pushing through barricades and wielding a flagpole to shatter a glass door and assault officers as he joined other rioters in a violent attempt to disrupt Congress’s certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

According to court documents, Koen led rioters in removing police barriers on the Capitol’s West Front and entered the Lower West Terrace Tunnel while armed with a flagpole displaying “Trump 2020” and Confederate flags.

There, Koen jabbed his flagpole at glass doors and police officers in an attempt to breach the building.

Koen was arrested by the FBI on Nov. 9, 2023, in Indianapolis. He is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 26, 2025, before U.S. District Chief Judge James Boasberg.
