Indiana Dunes and other local beaches offer mobility mats for expanded access
PORTER, Ind. -- Heading into the Fourth of July holiday, officials with the Indiana Dunes State Park want to remind guests that many of its lakes are ADA accessible thanks to concrete sidewalks and mobility mats on the beaches.
Indiana Dunes, along with Brookville, Monroe, and Hardy Lakes offer mobility mats so the beach is accessible to more people.
"Each property also has accessible parking and sidewalks leading to the beach mats," park officials said. "Potato Creek State Park has an ADA concrete sidewalk from the parking lot to the water’s edge. Find out how to use the mats by contacting the park you would like to visit."
Mobility mats for easy beach access are available at:
- Indiana Dunes State Park
- Monroe Lake – Paynetown & Fairfax SRAs
- Hardy Lake
All properties have accessible parking and sidewalks leading to beach mats and guests are encouraged to call property staff if maintenance is required at (575) 656-8186.
