BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The Benton Charter Township Utility Billing Office announced on Thursday some customers may have received a bill showing the incorrect amount due.
Township officials say if you received an abnormal utility bill, officials know about the of the issue and are working to rectify the mistake.
Township Supervisor Cathy Yates confirmed to ABC57 a printing error by an outside vendor sent out incorrect bills to as many as 5,000 local customers.
At least one residential customer got a bill for $12,000 for three months of water, sewer, and trash service. Officials say the bill was meant for a commercial business owner.
The township is asking people not to pay those incorrect bills because new versions are being printed Thursday to be sent out in the mail.
