INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Indiana State Troopers responded to a crash on I-465 Sunday night near Emerson Avenue.

When first responders arrived on the scene they found two heavily damaged vehicles.

Inside one of the vehicles was an adult female who was unresponsive.

Despite life-saving efforts by responders, she was pronounced dead on the scene.

An initial investigation by state troopers has revealed the female was driving westbound on I-465 near Emerson Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle while changing lanes.

She then struck the center median wall head-on.

Officials say her vehicle then bounced back into a lane with oncoming traffic where it was struck by a westbound pick-up truck.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.

Indiana State Police are still on the scene investigating the crash, the left lanes of I-465 are expected to be restricted until 12:00 a.m.
