Hit-and-run leaves 21-year-old man dead Sunday

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -- The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the area of US 12 and Burr Oak Road in Burr Oak Township for a report of an unresponsive man on the side of the road around 7:09 a.m., Sunday.

Emergency first responders arrived and pronounced the man dead on scene.

The preliminary findings determined he was struck by a vehicle.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Kayden Gruver.

Authorities say this is an ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement is now seeking the public's assistance in finding the vehicle involved.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2007–2015 GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with front-end passenger-side damage.

The sheriff’s office also requests anyone who had contact with Gruver on Saturday evening prior to the morning incident to come forward.

Residents and businesses in the area are also asked to review any available camera or surveillance footage from the time of the incident.
