Hidalgo continues collecting clout, named ACC and AP Player of the Week
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After another incredible performance against the then-ranked No. 2 UConn Huskies last Thursday, Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference and Associated Press Player of the week, her second time collecting both awards in a single week this season.
In games on Thursday and Sunday, Hidalgo averaged 28 points, seven rebounds, six assists and 4.5 steals in wins over No. 2 UConn and Eastern Michigan, respectively.
She shot 58.1 percent from the floor, 53.3 percent from beyond the three-point line, and went a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line in last week's games.
Hidalgo was the leading scorer in both games and posted a near triple-double over the Huskies with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. She had a career-high six three-pointers in the game against UConn, Notre Dame's third victory of the season over a top-five team.
Hidalgo earned both the ACC and AP POTW awards earlier this season following Notre Dame's victory at then-ranked No. 3 USC.
Her contributions helped the Fighting Irish secure the No. 3 spot in the AP Poll this week after falling as low as the No. 10 spot after back-to-back losses to then-ranked No. 17 TCU and unranked Utah in the Cayman Island's Classic two weeks ago.
Notre Dame is back in action on Sunday when they play host to Loyola (MD) for a final game before the holiday break.
That game tips off at 2 p.m. and is broadcast on ACCNX.
