WARSAW, Ind. -- Empress Beauty Salon had a line wrapping around the building at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
They held their second annual Free Back-To-School Haircuts event, and this year they did over 110 free haircuts for kids.
The owner of the salon, Carley Powell, said this is how she wants to give back to the community. Making sure every kid goes to school feeling confident.
“We understand that haircuts are so expensive, I mean our haircuts are $25 on the daily basis and you know, sometimes people can’t afford that. If you have multiple kids and you have a large family, it’s hard, that’s over $100 just to get kids a haircut,” expressed Powell.
Kids were full of excitement in the packed salon, ready to show off their new cuts, like first grader Ainsley Squires.
“It’s exciting and I like it because I’m getting bangs,” said squires with a smile.
Empress Beauty Salon says they plan on holding the 3rd annual Free Back-To-School Haircut next year.
“I just want to give back as much as I can. It’s a really fun day, kids are cool, they’re awesome and they deserve to feel special. They deserve to feel confident and that’s what we want to do, that’s what we want to give them,” said Powell.
