MISHAWAKA, Ind. - On Wednesday, Penn and St. Joe renewed one of the best matchups in NIC baseball each year.
Once again, it was a tight one late. The game was tied until Brady Gumpf belted a two-run homer to right field in the sixth inning to give the Tribe a 5-3 win. Hear from Gumpf in the video above!
Penn drops its first NIC game, creating a logjam at the top of the conference. The Kingsmen and Mishawaka are now tied for first with St. Joe one game back and New Prairie just behind.
In softball, Penn and St. Joe entered Wednesday in a three-way tie with Bremen for the NIC lead. The Kingsmen topped the Lady Indians 11-1 in that matchup.
